Project Title: Ifakara Ambient Chamber Test (I-ACT) Evaluation to measure durability of Royal Guard Against Pyrethroid Resistant Mosquito Strain In Tanzania

Project Description: The dual-treated Guard , Long-lasting insecticidal net(LN) has achieved prequalification by the world health organization (WHO) base don phase I laboratory and Phase II experimental hut studies using unwashed and 20-times washed (LN) is yet to be determined. It is Therefore proposed to conduct a double-blinded ,randomized semi-field study to compare 1)reproductive outcomes 2) biological efficacy of field aged royal Guard (investigational item) against unwashed and 20x washed Royal Guard(investigational item), and SafiNet(Negative control) in... The dual-treated Guard , Long-lasting insecticidal net(LN) has achieved prequalification by the world health organization (WHO) base don phase I laboratory and Phase II experimental hut studies using unwashed and 20-times washed (LN) is yet to be determined. It is Therefore proposed to conduct a double-blinded ,randomized semi-field study to compare 1)reproductive outcomes 2) biological efficacy of field aged royal Guard (investigational item) against unwashed and 20x washed Royal Guard(investigational item), and SafiNet(Negative control) in the Ifakara Ambient Chamber Test. Field aged nets from year 1 and year 2 of the randomized control trial in Mwanza Tanzania will be evaluated with 48 nets tested per year and 4 replicates per net with sample size increased if needed. Fifty mosquitos will be used per chamber. Blood fed alive mosquitoes will be scored, held for 72 hours and offered oviposition substrate. Unfed mosquitoes will be scored, blood-fed post exposure and held for 72 hours. Delayed mortality and eggs per female will then be scored
